Without mentioning any names, someone I know is about to acquire a very large number of cats. This is a case of sever overuse of LOL in emails. Watch and learn:

What is it with LOL and cats?

Oh I mean.... DId I have anything to do with this, LOL!!!!!!!!!!
I have four cats and I use about 2 smiley faces per week, 0 LOL, and the occasional ! but only where appropriate. So where does this put me :) Cleary the equasion does not work since I should have no cats based on the lack of LOL use.
He forgot to mention the corollary that 3 smiley's = 1 LOL so you won't end up with quite as many cats as the LOL-ers but they'll be there. And your four cats presently is a clear indication that you are underestimating your smiley usage. :-)
I'm with Steve, Julia. I think you are secretly using both LOL and smileys. How else do you explain all of the cats that you have? They're giant overgrown cats too, which suggests that you are engaging in extracurricular use of the exclamation point as well. I would seek help. You have a problem.
